I WAS PAID 70 BOB FOR MY FIRST VOICE OVER GIG
Voice over artist and journalist Mutala Mukosia ‘THE VOICE’ has said that he was paid seventy shillings as a voice over payment nine years ago as he commenced his voice over journey.He added that this was a shock to him as he never understood the dynamics of the industry at that time.
“I was was given seventy shillings nakumbuka it was a fifty bob note and two coins za ten bob and that was my first payment.Hio ilikua fare ya kunirudisha Rongai that time” said Mutala.
He however shared that the voice over industry has grown so fast in the past years and now people are not only seeing it as a part time job but something that can generate a sustainable income.
His journey is one of the most inspiring ones since he beat all odds to become one of the most soughted voices in Kenya having voiced for Airtel,St Paul’s university, CPF, KENHA,Ministry of health,Ministry of interior, Kenya bankers,the judiciary,Ajira Kenya, UNICEF among many other organizations.
His talent out stands most voice artist as he is the only known voice talent who is multilingual with the capability of voicing up-to six languages.
Mutala will be celebrating his tenth anniversary in the voice over industry come next year. He looks forward to creating more schemes together with stake holders in his industry to broaden the space for new voice over talents.
